Alex McGregor Joins Thinkwell

We're excited to announce that Alex McGregor, PhD, has joined Thinkwell as our newest team member. Based in Moncton, New Brunswick, Alex brings a wealth of expertise in organizational development, leadership coaching, and people analytics that will strengthen our capacity to serve clients throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond.

Alex's deep background in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, combined with his hands-on experience designing and implementing leadership development programs, positions him to deliver immediate value to our clients while helping us continue to expand our presence in New Brunswick.

The Right Expertise at the Right Time

What sets Alex apart is his ability to bridge the gap between rigorous research and practical application. Too often, organizational development work falls into one of two camps: either it's highly theoretical with limited real-world applicability, or it's purely experiential without the evidence base to ensure sustainable results. Alex operates comfortably in both worlds.

His academic training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology provides the research foundation, while his years working with leaders across multiple industries—from agriculture to manufacturing to freight—have honed his ability to translate insights into action. This combination is exactly what our clients need: solutions grounded in evidence but designed for the messy reality of organizational life.

Alex joins us from J.D. Irving, Limited, where he supported hundreds of leaders, designed development programs, conducted psychometric assessments, and led research initiatives that influenced company-wide talent decisions. That experience gives him an intuitive understanding of what works when you're trying to shift leadership culture, build succession pipelines, or develop high-potential talent.

Practical Skills That Drive Results

Alex's arrival comes as Allan Gates, who serves as Vice President for New Brunswick, transitions from his day-to-day operational role at Thinkwell. Allan's contributions to building our New Brunswick practice have been significant, and while he's stepping back from daily responsibilities, he'll continue to contribute his expertise to select projects going forward. This transition creates the opportunity for Alex to bring his expertise to our New Brunswick operations while maintaining continuity through Allan's ongoing involvement when his specific experience adds value to client work.

Having Alex based in New Brunswick strengthens our ability to serve clients in the province while maintaining the collaborative relationships that make regional work effective. But Alex's impact won't be limited to New Brunswick. His expertise in people analytics, learning and development methodologies, and leadership assessment will complement the teams in our Halifax and St. John’s offices and support clients across our entire practice.

Beyond his direct client work, Alex will play a key role in our business development efforts in New Brunswick. His local connections, his understanding of the organizational challenges companies face in the region, and his ability to articulate how evidence-based organizational development creates value will help us build relationships with new clients and deepen our work with existing partners.

Alex joins Thinkwell at a time when organizations are grappling with fundamental questions about leadership, culture, and talent. The old models aren't working the way they used to, but the new models aren't yet clear. That ambiguity creates both challenge and opportunity.

We're fortunate to have him on the team, and we're looking forward to the contributions he'll make, both to our clients' success and to Thinkwell’s continued growth.

Welcome aboard, Alex. Let's get to work.
